About Woody’s Dog Walks
A life built around dogs, not desks
Like a lot of people, lockdown changed things for me. What started as long daily walks quickly became something I couldn’t imagine life without. Around the same time, I got Margot, and from that point on, walking wasn’t just a habit, it became a huge part of my day and my mindset.
Before this, I spent 10 years working in finance. It gave me structure and discipline, but I knew I didn’t want to spend my life behind a desk. Being out walking with Margot gave me a sense of freedom and enjoyment that felt far more meaningful, and it made me realise I could build something around that.
Woody’s Dog Walks came from a simple idea. If dogs get so much happiness from being out, exploring and socialising, why not make that the focus of the day?
Walks designed with your dog in mind
For me, it’s not just about getting dogs out for exercise. It’s about creating something they genuinely look forward to.
Routine plays a big part in that. Dogs love familiarity, returning to places they know, building confidence in their surroundings, and feeling comfortable in their environment.
I keep my walks local where possible, and I carefully match dogs into the right groups so they feel safe, settled and able to enjoy themselves. I also keep numbers small, which means every dog gets proper attention rather than just being part of a crowd.
That personal approach is really important to me, and it’s something I believe sets Woody’s Dog Walks apart.
Someone you can rely on
Outside of work, I’m a family man. I’ve been living in East Ayrshire for over five years, where I got married, settled down, and now have two young children alongside Margot, my Portuguese Water Dog.
I’ve been around dogs for most of my life, starting with my family’s Labrador when I was about 10. Since then, dogs have always been part of the picture.
Throughout my career and personal life, I’ve always placed a lot of importance on organisation, trust and reliability. Whether that’s in work, with family, or being there for friends, those values matter to me.
They carry through into Woody’s Dog Walks as well. When someone trusts me with their dog, I take that seriously. It’s not just about turning up, it’s about consistency, care and making sure every dog is looked after properly.
